Heck, yes. When I worked in the mainstream medical system, it always confused me how the ability to heal ourselves was very often dismissed.
Our bodies don't decide to be healthy or unhealthy, they are orientated to health and given the right conditions they will go toward it. I'm not saying that's all we need, of course there are some medicines/treatments that we would die without - but its especially interesting what Dr Rankin says about the impact of the health care worker.
Lots of interesting comments and observations in this TEDx. Worth the 20 mins. I really like the way Dr Rankin talks of our 'inner pilot light' - I often hear people talk about losing their spark and how much they would like that back, which is what I help them to do.
Also what she says about how when things in our life are out of balance and not optimal - losing touch with the body is the first thing to happen.
