Research demonstrates how Craniosacral Therapy is able to assist the restoration of as well as enhance fluid movement within the brain and spinal cord and throughout the whole body.
This happens as the nervous system is able to come into balance - effectively allowing the body to relax and let go of trauma and tension.
Why is this so important?
Until recently, the way that fluid moved through brain tissue was by a slow trickle, with the gradual removal of waste. It is now known that a newly identified system named the glymphatic system is responsible. Similar to the lymphatic system but powered by glial cells, the glymphatic system is responsible for pushing fluid through and much faster than previously thought.
When you are holding tension, the glial cells (as are many cells & therefore tissues) are restricted. During craniosacral therapy fluid motion is increased as described above, improving glymphatic flushing of the brain tissues.

Neuroscientist Maiken Nedergaard from the University of Rochester said, “We’re hopeful that these findings have implications for many conditions that involve the brain, such as traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease”
