Tired all the time?
Coffee-ing your way through every day?
Getting uncontrollable 'butterflys' or the shakes when you have to present that paper to a room full of peers, talk to someone new...or freeze-up when you see your crush?
Its your body shifting into flight, fight or freeze mode...getting ready to run away, punch on, or play dead - all in the name of protecting you from...a bear?
Yes, for your long lost relative, it was because there was a bear chasing them, not exactly a problem in Melbourne these days!
In modern day the flight/fight/freeze response happens to our nervous system in the same way as it did thousands of years ago.
Whilst our minds have evolved to keep up (mostly!) with some crazily advanced technology, our nervous systems are still in a primal state &, as it turns out, all your nervous system wants is to feel safe BUT it doesn't distinguish what the threat is, your mind does that.
That job interview you had last week - may as well have been a bear chasing you.
'Butterflys' which are generally a passing feeling, are a result of the nervous system diverting blood away from your stomach to your heart/lungs, arms and legs...getting you ready to run, punch someone or - in the case of seeing your crush - loose control of body functions completely!
I've attached a video to the right from the engaging Laci Green explaining why we feel emotions in our stomach in 2 1/2 minutes.
And what if it extends into being unable to sleep or concentrate or think straight?
Your body should come back into balance once the perceived threat has passed. However...long periods, intense or frequent bouts of stress can make it hard for your body to come back into balance.
Your system may need a reset - I can help, as well as assist you to develop strategies to manage this in future. Click here to book.
let go of pain, let go of stress, let go of tiredness - feel energised!
