The implication of this is that you could be experiencing continual activation of the SR – and this is not what our bodies are designed to cope with. Your body needs down time, needs to experience relaxation – but its not always clear what feeling relaxed is, or perhaps your body is in such a high level of activation coming back down on your own seems impossible and you feel stuck. Continual activation can result in a number of undesirable symptoms (fatigue/lack of energy, pain, anxiety, poor concentration, loss of sexual desire, moodiness, migraine/cluster headaches, sleep interruption), is linked by research to a number of chronic illnesses (cancer, heart disease); and suspected to result in a shorter life span.
